PD: More Of The Same

17 September 2013

Paul Dickov told Rovers Player that he wants ‘more of the same’ this evening when Rovers face Watford at Vicarage Road.

“I have told the lads that I want more of the same tonight against Watford as they play a similar style to Huddersfield,” he said.

“Our preparation for last Saturday will be the same as for this match - we were very thorough for the Huddersfield game.

“Watford are a team like Huddersfield who like to play three at the back, so we prepare the same although I am sure Watford will adapt as they see fit.

“Huddersfield are a good side with a manager I respect a lot so we knew it would be a tough game.

“We were excellent last Saturday especially in the first half and really the only thing missing was the finish.

“They had to change their formation three times through the game to combat how we were playing. We have worked hard in training on the players dealing with what is thrown at them whatever the system or formation. If we do things right we will make ourselves hard to beat.

“Tonight will be a tough game against a side I expect to be up there with the leaders at the end of the season.

“They have a manager, Zola, who is a legend in my eyes who was a fantastic footballer and he has taken that into his sides.

“Defensively we have to be disciplined and focussed like we were against Huddersfield last Saturday as they will have a lot of the ball.

“He has some fantastic players there who like to get the ball down and pass it. This style of football suits us as it allows us to play the style of football I want my players to play.

“Watford are a very experienced side who just missed out last season, so they will know the Championship well. It will all be about how we play on and off the ball tonight as they have players that, if you don’t keep your concentration, will hurt you.

“Hopefully we will have some great support, like at Wigan, tonight and that will really help the players. You cannot underestimate, away from home, how much that helps.”
