Stan on Bradford Game

20 September 2013

Paul Stancliffe spoke to doncasterroversfc.co.uk about the U!8s first defeat of the season, last weekend, against Bradford City.

Rovers were on a run of four wins from four and Saturday’s loss was the first of the season.

“It was disappointing, last Saturday, after we suffered our first defeat of the season against a very good Bradford side," said Stancliffe.

“What was disappointing from our side was they way it happened. We didn’t really turn up which was a big down side for us after such a good start to the season.

“We gave them the initiative early on in the game and after that we were always second best.

“We didn’t see any complacency from the lads after winning the first games; before the game or out on the pitch.

“Ideally you would like to say it was one of those days but we have look a bit deeper to analyse individually and as a team, so we can make sure that they and we learn from the defeat.

“Bradford have some great players in their side. I don’t want it to be an excuse, but their centre forward has had a lot of top club looking watching him.

“They were probably a bit bigger and stronger than us on the day. It was a case of them playing really well and us not getting into the game.

“We had good reports on Bradford, which we were told their threats, but we failed to deal with them on the pitch.

“We have no game this weekend so we can work with the lads to look at that game and the next one up.

“We can make sure they learn from the game and take it on board along with further training to strengthen them.

“At this level you will have some lads who are stronger than others and we will work on that.”
