A quick throw out to the trialist, who fed Syers, who was running clear of the square back line. The keeper came out and blocked with a leg but FORRESTER hit the loose ball into the net in the 3rd minute.

From the re-start Scunthorpe went down the field giving Kyle Wootton a crack at goal but he hit the post, with the ball being put out for a corner.

The ball came out of the Rovers defence to Neita, who hit a fierce drive from the right that went across the face of the goal and out for a throw in.

In the 11th minute, a good header from SYERS from a corner kick brought Rovers’ second goal.

General midfield play followed, with the Rovers having a good portion of the possession.

In the 27th minute, Grayson, on the Scunthorpe left, got forward and had an attempt at goal but fired well wide.

On the half hour a free kick from the Scunthorpe right was headed straight into Maxted’s hands by Howe.

Then, a minute later, a mistake in the visiting defence, let the Rovers in and FORRESTER capitalised by shooting low into the bottom corner.

In the 43rd minute, Kyle Wootton hit a good effort from just inside the penalty area whic Maxted, diving to his left, parried away.

As half time came up, good work by Bennett, led to the TRIALIST, with the outside of his left foot, steering the ball just inside the post from the edge of the penalty area.

In the 50th minute, some indecision in the Rovers defence led to Griffin being penalised for a foul on Kyle WOOTTON in the penalty area. The Scunthorpe man took the penalty kick but Maxted, diving to his left, parried the ball away.

Rovers then went straight down the pitch and the TRIALIST lifted the ball over the keeper from just inside the penalty area.

Rovers dominated right till the end with plenty of attempts at goal however few were on target.

In the last minute of added time the threatened sixth goal came when McCullough fired in from the left with a rocket shot that hit the far post and came back into play. SYERS followed up and slammed the ball into the top corner of the net.
