Doncaster Rovers are delighted to announce that Richie Wellens has extended his contract with the club.
Richie has signed a deal which will keep him at the club until January 2014.
Richie returned to the club at the beginning of August signing a short-term deal and has earned rave reviews for his performances since.
He has been an integral part of the Rovers midfield showing calmness on the ball using his experience to bring others in to play.
Manager Paul Dickov was keen to extend Richie’s deal and was delighted to be able to announce that an agreement had been reached: “I’m delighted that Richie has agreed to stay here until January,” he said
“It puts to bed all the speculation regarding Richie; I’ve always said that he would stay. To be fair to him he’s not let the speculation bother him he’s just got on with it and showed everybody what a top professional he is.
“Richie’s experience, how he plays the game and how he handles himself, is top class and the players and fans look up to him.
“I’ve got to thank the board for making it possible for us to keep Richie at the club.”
