Welsh winger David Cotterill provides treat to lifelong fan
Rovers’ midfielder David Cotterill visited long-standing Rovers’ fan Pat Lister on her 70th birthday after being contacted by her son Mark. Mark explained that his mum did not want any big surprises, but like anyone she obviously expected it!! Season Ticket holder Pat was surprised when she answered the door and there was David Cotterill and press officer Steve Uttley. The first thing you notice with Pat’s house is that every wall seems to have a bit of Rovers on it, with photos from all the successful times, plus photos of her with Neil Sullivan. Pat sponsored Neil all the time he was here.
Pat: “I never expected that when there was a knock at the door. I wondered why my lad had made sure that I had not gone out. It was wonderful to talk to David about his goal at Leeds, and discuss the team. What a really nice lad he is, and I really appreciated him taking time to see me.”
David Cotterill: “It was fantastic to be able to put a smile on one of our fans’ faces by turning up unexpectedly. Pat was very knowledgeable and knew her stuff, so could tell me all about her time at Rovers. I was late getting there as I had trained and then had been routinely drug tested at Cantley Park, but I was so pleased Pat was in”.
