Loan Watch - 29/04/14

29 April 2014

A brief rundown of how our out on loan players are faring.

A fortnight on from our last ‘Loan Watch’, we cast our eye on the recent fortunes of some Rovers players plying their trade elsewhere in English football.

Midfielder Kyle Bennett has made three appearances for League 1 outfit Bradford City since we last updated you.

The flying winger, who is still just 23 years old, added a start (a 1-0 defeat to Swindon Town) and two substitute appearances (1-0 and 2-1 home wins over Peterborough and Crawley respectively) to his tally at Valley Parade.

Bennett has now featured 17 times for Phil Parkinson’s mid-table side and scored one goal.

Staying in League 1, striker Billy Paynter has found chances hard to come by at Bramall Lane as Sheffield United’s dream of an unlikely play-off spot vanished.

Paynter’s 19 minutes as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Stevenage is his only taste of action recently, with Blades boss Nigel Clough preferring to play with just one striker. Paynter was an unused substitute in the draw at Tranmere and 2-1 win against his former employers Port Vale and has 12 appearances and no goals.
