Bennett Focussed on Bouncing Back

23 August 2014

"What's in the past, is in the past," says flying winger.

Kyle Bennett has said the reason for upturn in performances has been due to him “growing up” following last season’s loan spell at Bradford City.

Having arrived from Bury in the summer of 2012, only now are the signs of the midfielder’s undoubted potential starting to come to fruition.

“I feel that in the last year I have grown up quite a bit and I am enjoying my time here now,” said Bennett.

“I need to reward the gaffer because he has put his trust in me and I am playing.

“Going out last season was good experience for me and got myself twenty games, which was good because at that time it was not working out for me here. The gaffer was using other players so I needed to get games and when I came back I was determined to be part of his plans this season.”

Following Harry Forrester’s three game suspension, Bennett was in fine form on Tuesday night against Preston North End, which followed his spectacular strike against Port Vale.

“I’ve had a good pre-season and we all are working together. The gaffer has been telling us what he expects of us in terms of the games,” said the 23 year old.

“I was only 19 when I came here with big expectations. I started off all right but then I lost my way a little bit. I think I let things get to my head which affected my play on the field.

“I now feel I am back on track and I am focussed on football, which is good for me and for the club.”
