Foundation Friday- Join our team

19 December 2014

The Club Doncaster Foundation are on the lookout for new candidates for their successful traineeship programme.

Giving young people aged 16-18 a great chance to get into the sports industry, the traineeship gives participants working throughout the whole of Club Doncaster.

Each participant receives at least two weeks of employment training and goes on to gain work experience in a variety of roles within Club Doncaster Foundation, Doncaster Rovers FC and Doncaster Rugby League.

Club Doncaster would like to stress this opportunity is available to both males and females and in support of this would like to celebrate some of our most successful students and female employees.

Heather King

Heather King joined the Club Doncaster Foundation education programme in September 2010, enrolling on to the Foundation's Level 1 course.

During her time on the course Heather regularly volunteered with our community team and gained valuable work experience with them.

After her course finished, she was offered a two-year apprenticeship as a community coach and is now employed by the Foundation full-time in this role as well as being match day co-ordinator.

Heather added: "As a fan, it was a great opportunity to study at the Keepmoat Stadium and to now work here is a dream come true!"

Mary Lally

Part of the traineeship includes working within the team headed up by club secretary Mary Lally who has a wealth of experience having worked in football for the past 13 years with Leeds United and Doncaster Rovers.

She said: “Club Doncaster is a great place to work and although we have a high number of female staff members, this strangely isn’t proportionate with the number of female students we are attracting to the Club Doncaster courses. I have really enjoyed my time working in football and would encourage all who are interested in a career in professional sport to register an interest in the traineeships.”

Candidates will undertake work experience in the following areas/organisations:

o   Club Doncaster Foundation – Coaching Team

o   Doncaster Rovers FC/Doncaster RL– Ground Staff

o   Doncaster Rovers FC/Doncaster RL – Club Shop

o   Doncaster Rovers FC/Doncaster RL – Ticket Office

o   Keepmoat Stadium – Soccer Centre

o   Keepmoat Stadium – Catering & Hospitality

o   Doncaster Rovers FC/Doncaster RL – Media & Marketing

Courses are flexible and participants can take part from a minimum of 7 weeks to a maximum of 30 weeks. Ideal candidates will have an interest in working in the sports industry.

Jenna Scully

Jenna Scully oversees the traineeship programme as part of her role as Head of Education. Jenna when questioned said: “The traineeship scheme offers young people throughout Doncaster a great opportunity to work within the sports industry.

“The variety of roles give candidates a great chance to see what it is like behind the scenes of the Foundation, Doncaster Rovers and Doncaster Rugby League and gives them vital experience for future employment.”

You can apply to take part in this brilliant opportunity at Club Doncaster by applying online at www.drfc-education.co.uk or calling 01302 765890, but hurry as places are unfortunately limited.
