Rovers announce latest charity partners

Doncaster Samaritans and Home-Start Doncaster have become the latest charity partners to be officially supported by Doncaster Rovers.

Both organisations will be the club’s charities during the whole of 2014.

The backing is an expansion of the support already provided to Rovers’ official charity Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Doncaster Samaritans, which is based on Thorne Road, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, providing advice and support to people of all backgrounds and issues, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Home-Start Doncaster, based at the Central Sure Start Children's Centre on Welcome Way, is a charity which offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children.

Volunteers visit families to offer informal, friendly and confidential support to help give their children the best start in life. The charity is also celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

Gavin Baldwin, chief executive at Doncaster Rovers, said: “The club is working in partnership with both charities to help raise awareness of their services to the Doncaster community

“We will be encouraging supporters to fundraise on behalf of the two charities and help to boost their profile at all our home matches. These are two great local causes and Rovers will back their fundraising activities during the whole of 2014, providing assistance wherever we can.”
