Duffy: Full of confidence

6 February 2014

Doncaster Rovers midfielder Mark Duffy spoke to Rovers Player ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Brighton and Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium.

Duffy has also been nominated for the Championship player of the month for January, after some fine performances, which has helped Rovers go four games unbeaten in the league.

“I only found out this morning about the nomination, the gaffer said congratulations to me and told me I had been nominated, so obviously I was really pleased and delighted.

“I’m pleased with my own performances, but I am even more happy that we are picking up points and getting ourselves up the league.  Hopefully we can continue that form and push on a little bit.

“I waited patiently for my chance in the team and when it came, I worked hard and tried to keep myself there and kick on really.

“The Brighton game is massive for us, picking up points is key really.  If you look at Blackpool away we didn’t play particularly well but we managed to sneak a point.  We can’t play well every game, but if you have the mentality that you won’t get beat then that will get you a long way.”

“With the players we have, we can compete at this level, as the gaffer has said quite comfortably.  I think if we had our full squad for the full season we would be a lot higher up the league.

“Last time we played Brighton the squad was a little bit depleted, there are a couple of bodies missing this time too, but we will go into the game on Saturday full of confidence.”
