PD: I have to give our players credit

8 February 2014

Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov spoke to Rovers Player after his side slipped to their first defeat in four matches.

“Obviously we are disappointed with the defeat, but I thought the way we played, particularly in the second half, we were worth at least a point, if not all three.

“We knew coming here that Brighton are a top team, especially at home.  They play expansive football, they make it hard for you with the way that they keep the ball.

“I thought our discipline in the first half was fantastic in how we defended.  In the second half we wanted to get at them a little bit more and if anything we have had the better chances.

“We wanted to win the game, it is okay working hard and defending properly, but I said to the players at half time to go out and have a go.  We created three really good chances and their goal is really disappointing to concede.

“I think I have to give our players credit defensively.  It’s disappointing to suffer a defeat but I though the players were outstanding today in their work ethic and wanting to do the right things and if we keep performing like that, we will be okay.”
