Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov spoke to Rovers Player ahead of his sides crunch clash with local rivals Barnsley at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday.

“I’m not going to play it down and say it is another game as I know it is going to be a battle as it’s a derby with lots at stake.  Barnsley are a team that are in battle with us at the bottom and if we win, it gives us a little bit more breathing space.

“You look at the fixture and the first thing that hits you is that it is a local derby, so there is a lot of pride at stake for the club and the fans.

“What we have to do is take our recent home performances against Wigan and Charlton into Saturday.

“Like every game we say to the players, to get the result and performance, you need to win the battle first and I think that is even more important with it being a local derby.

“They are usually frantic and played at a high tempo.  The players need that fire in their bellies but must keep a cool head."

Apologies for microphone interference.
