Doncaster Rovers new signing Billy Sharp spoke to Rovers Player about his return to the football club.

“I just want to come here, help the team out and climb up the table.  It’s been difficult at Southampton, I went out to Reading and had a frustrating  loan spell there, I enjoyed my time there but I didn’t play enough so hopefully I can come here now, play games and score goals and move the club up the table.

“I spoke to the gaffer quite regularly and I was impressed with what he said, he’s shown a lot of interest and it’s nice to feel wanted, I didn’t have any problems coming back here, I can’t wait to get started and I’m looking forward to the games coming up.

“I have a good relationship with the fans and hopefully I can kick start that again.  I just feel in the last 12 months I’ve not played much football, I dremt of being a footballer, the money is good, but I want to play football and hopefully I can come here and score a lot of goals again.

“I knew of the interest but it has been difficult at the other end, I didn’t want to get carried away, but I had my heart set on coming here, I made it happen from my side and the gaffer has worked really hard with his team and I am delighted to be on-board now.

“It happened quickly, I drove up yesterday, signed the forms yesterday, stayed at my mum and dad’s last night and I am here this morning, I just want to get back on the training pitch and be back in an environment of enjoying football again.”
