Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov spoke to Rovers Player about his new signings and the buzz in the training.
“We had a fantastic performance last Saturday, scoring three goals and more importantly keeping a clean sheet and getting three points.
“I sensed that was coming and we’ve added Billy this week but I think the signing of Richie Wellens, Tamas and Meite shows the intent early doors and I think the performance we got last week with injured players coming back shows that we can compete at this level and we are a good team.
“There is an excitement from everybody with Billy coming in, we just have to make sure we keep our feet on the ground, work as hard as we can and get the performances we know we are capable of.
“I felt last week in training that the squad was galvanised a little bit because they knew that keeping Richie for 18 months that we had a top player and a talisman this season and add in the experience of Meite and Tamas and the quality they have got, the rest of the players have seen that in training and given them a boost.
“Having Keegan, Husband, Coppinger, Khumalo and Browny back fully fit aswell there was a buzz around the place last week, almost a relief that we were getting these players back in and bringing players in and the performance and result didn’t really surprise me that much because I could see it coming.
“Billy ticks the boxes for a lot of reasons, the most important one being that he scores goals, he is a top quality player. You add to the fact that everybody from the cleaners, to the kitmen, to the players, to the fans, to myself we all love him aswell and it gives the place a buzz and we know with 20 games left that we now have a squad that is more than capable of getting us out of the bottom three and getting points on the board very quickly.
“The board have been fantastic with me and Gavin all season really, but especially the last couple of weeks have been working really hard, 24/7 trying to get the signings done and I did say a couple of weeks ago we had a target and we knew who it was, but we might have to be patient and hopefully that patience rewards us now.”
