PD: "We've had positive news on Rob"

16 January 2014

Manager Paul Dickov spoke to Rovers Player ahead of Saturday's clash with Wigan Athletic at the Keepmoat Stadium.

“We’ve got to keep believing, we’ve got players coming back in now which has given the squad a boost, sometimes when your thin in numbers and you are not winning games you look around the changing room to find out who is going to help you.

I think big Abdoulaye Meite with his experience, Husband and Coppinger coming back was a big positive and we have Paul Keegan back now who will be available for the weekend.

“We’ve had some positive news on Rob Jones, he went to see a specialist for a second opinion in London and he can join back in training now, we just have to take it a bit slowly with Rob, so he’s coming back into the frame as well and all of a sudden the squad is looking a lot stronger now.

“We’re hopefully going to arrange a game next week which Rob can be involved in, with the nature of his injury he has to take it slow to begin with, which is hard with Rob, we have to pull the reins on him a little bit because he is desperate to get back.

“The lads who have come in have given everything they’ve got, but I think sometimes that little bit of experience that Rob, Meite or Keegan can give us, calms players down around them and the other thing we have got now is a little bit of strength and depth now.

“The players who we’re playing we’re flogging themselves, especially over the Christmas period, there was a lot of games in a short space of time and when you are light on numbers, a little bit of fatigue kicks in and when you are not winning games that fatigue kicks in a little bit sooner.”
