Practice Game
Rovers 4 York City 0
Manager Paul Dickov welcomed back James Husband and James Coppinger for this practice game on pitch 2, Keepmoat Stadium. Rovers put out a strong side with players looking to impress before Saturdays game at Blackburn.
On a blustery pitch Rovers dominated from the start but had only a goal by Harry Middleton on 14 minutes to show for their control of the game. The second half Rovers played against the wind that had got stronger as the game went on and continued to dominate with James Husband, Kyle Bennett, Billy Paynter, Harry Forrester and James Coppinger causing the York backs all sorts of problems. Rovers went further ahead on 47 minutes when the lively De Val followed up a clearance to stroke the ball in from the edge of the box. On 69 minutes Coppinger beat the offside trap and placed the ball past the York keeper for number 3 before leaving the field on 71 mins to be replaced by Evan Finnegan. On 79 minutes substitute Finnegan scored Rovers 4th and last of the game.
James Husband played 90 minutes of the game and Coppinger 71 minutes in their first game back since injury with both players looking like they have not been away.
Rovers: Maxted, Meade, Brown, Meite, Husband, Middleton, Coppinger, De Val, Bennett, Forrester, Paynter.
