Sharp: It was great to be back playing

25 January 2014

Doncaster Rovers striker Billy Sharp spoke to Rovers Player after their 1-1 draw with Blackpool.

“It was not the best of goals but I did get a touch and it was a great ball by Cotts (Cotterill), I did look at the linesman because I thought I was offside, but  I looked back and I was just on.

“I don’t think anybody believes me but I did get a touch, but the main thing is we have shown character, come from one nil down and got a great point in the end.

“I don’t know if I should have played 90 minutes, I cramped up after about 70 and the gaffer caught me, but I managed to stretch it off and I didn’t feel it again, but it was great to get 90 minutes and great to be back playing football.

“The fans have been fantastic since I came back and I play to repay them for their hardwork for travelling coming to watch us every week and supporting us

“It wasn’t the best performance, it wasn’t the best game, they were better first half  but I think when they went one-nil up, we looked more likely to score and the team to go on and nick it.

“We are out of the bottom three so it is in our hands on Tuesday.”
