Club Doncaster Foundation Launches

25 July 2014

Club Doncaster takes another huge step forward.

The Foundation’s annual lunch was the cause for an extra special celebration with the launch of the brand new ‘Club Doncaster Foundation’ linking together Doncaster Roves and Doncaster RLFC.

Using the power of sport, physical activity training and education, the ‘Club Doncaster Foundation’ aims to develop stronger communities, promote civic pride and develop an economically active region.

The event takes place in acknowledgement of the achievements and contributions the charity and its partners have made to help the community of Doncaster over the last 12 months.

Attendee’s include Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones, chief executive Jo Miller, Football League Trust general manager Mike Evans and the principal and deputy of Selby College Allan Stewart and Janet Meenaghan.

A highlight of this period was Doncaster Rovers being named the North East Community Club of the year thanks to the fantastic work by the Foundation.  The launch also coincides with the Foundation’s move into their new home in the South East Corner of the Keepmoat Stadium, enabling the step up to the next level as Club Doncaster continues to bring the regions sport and community together.

Liam Scully, Chief Executive of the Foundation said: “I would like to thank all of our partners for their fantastic support.  The Foundation has some really exciting times ahead, especially moving into our new hub in collaboration with XP free school.

“The project allows us to increase our further education offering with five brand new state of the art classrooms and further office space.  We continue to be the primary contract holder of NCS Doncaster and we have recently announced a new partnership with E-Response with over 600 training places available to the unemployed in Doncaster and we will continue to expand even further as the ‘Club Doncaster Foundation’ in order to make the region thrive.”

Doncaster Mayor Jones added: “The ‘Club Doncaster Foundation’ will, I’m sure, prove a real driving force for developing young people in the Borough. I am passionate about enhancing skills and helping our young people make the most of their talents. The foundation ties in perfectly with our goal and by working in partnership we can really help improve the prospects of people across Doncaster.”
