Dickov Wants Additions

1 July 2014

Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov working to get players in to the Keepmoat Stadium.

Paul Dickov has revealed to www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk that, following meetings with various players this week, he is hopeful of announcing that agreements are in place to snap up additions to his squad.

“We can’t put an exact time frame on it but by next week we’re hopeful that we’ll be able to announce a few new signings,” he said.

“All throughout the summer we’ve also been in contact with the out of contract players and their agents and keeping them up to date with what’s going on. In these next two weeks we’re hopeful of getting some tied down.

“We want to get the club straight back up again, we’ll be in with a group of five or six who’ll all have the same ambitions and budgets, similar sorts of resources.”

Dickov’s resources are likely to have been significantly boosted once ownership of the club is completed in mid-July, and he will look to compensate for the recent losses of MARK DUFFY, CHRIS BROWN and DAVID COTTERILL.

“I went on record recently to say thank you first and foremost to the lads. With Chris I do believe that a big part of him wanted to stay, but the lure of staying in the Championship at his age and on a decent deal, was too much for him,” said Dickov.

“We’re now in a position where we can look at recruiting players to strengthen what is already a strong core of players that we have here.

“We’re looking at a blend of players from young and hungry to experienced professionals with international pedigree.

“It’s going to be hard but we want to change the mentality of the players and go in to every game next year expecting to win and needing to win because draws wont be good enough if we want to get straight back up. We’ll need to get as many points as we can as quick as we can.”
