Harry Forrester speaks of his delight at being back on the football pitch after a frustrating season on the sidelines.Harry Forrester suffered a number of set backs in his first season with Doncaster Rovers, spending the majority of it watching from the stands due to injury.
Following Rovers second pre season friendly, Forrester spoke of his enjoyment at playing football again.
“It felt great to be back out there. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to take part in competitive football, I’ve had my set backs but it felt good just to be out there.
“I was a bit rusty, as expected, but it was a good fitness workout which is what it’s about at this stage. I had a long summer getting fit and working hard for this moment, so now it’s time to kick on in Portugal next week and build on that.
Paul Dickov's men will spend the week in Portugal for an intense week of training in the heat ahead of the new season.
“Portugal will be tough, it’s not a holiday camp that’s for sure! There will be lots of long hard sessions to build our fitness to get us through the long season ahead.
“We’re all looking forward to playing Huddersfield, they are a good team and on top of that it’s good for all the boys to bond out there as well.
“Everything now is about that first game of the season. The performance wasn’t there against Lincoln but each week we’re just building our fitness and our friendlies get tougher as time goes on to make sure we’re ready.
“This season for me is about getting time on the pitch and getting back to what I know I can do and what I was bought here to do.
“I have my own personal targets but as a team we need to hit the ground running from the off.
“I’ve put last year behind me now, it’s time to look forward and kick on this season.”
