The future players of Doncaster Rovers could be nearer than you think.
An official recruitment tool for Doncaster Rovers Academy, Mighty Kicks is aimed solely at children aged 6-8 years, giving them a new player development pathway.
Doncaster Rovers are delighted to announce a new training programme, Mighty Kicks, which will provide a clear route and opportunity for local children to join the club’s academy and development programmes.
All children are split into different Mighty Kicks teams so they play and train as a team but they are all part of the same Mighty Kicks club.
This allows the children to take part in competitive games, but without the emphasis on winning. The focus, therefore, is on the development of the player and ensuring that training takes place in a fun, safe, learning environment.
Mighty Kicks is run by the top coaches at Doncaster Rovers Football Club so the children have unparalleled access to the most qualified professionals in the area, the best facilities and play on top class surfaces.
The programme launched on the 24th May, and the first session saw 40 local children given the opportunity to take part in Mighty Kicks and enrol in the programme, which we are now ready to roll out to the whole of Doncaster!
Gavin Baldwin, Chief Executive of Doncaster Rovers said: “Not only will the Mighty Kicks programme provide the club with a unique opportunity of identifying talented children at an early age, it will also provide healthy and grass root links, ensuring children have a pathway into a level of football that suits them.”
All abilities are welcome and Mighty Kicks is an official recruitment tool for Doncaster Rovers Academy so don’t miss your opportunity to join in this innovative programme when it restarts on 26th July.
