Rovers manager Paul Dickov has spoken of his intent to avenge last season’s relegation heartache.
Dickov’s motivation was highlighted recently when he spoke exclusively to www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk.
“There’s nobody more ambitious than me and I want to bounce back to the Championship,” he said.
“When we get back for pre season we’ll assess the sort of squad we’ve got and where we want to go.
“All the talks we’re having with players and agents and clubs is about us going straight back up because that’s what this Club deserves,” said Dickov.
The ex-Scotland striker, who made well over 400 appearances as a player, has said that the off-season is “completely different” as a manager.
“From my point of view, you’ve got to make sure that very quickly everything is in place for the start of pre-season and players that you want to keep are kept and the talks are done very quickly with the players that you’ve targeted,” he said.
“You can’t just have one player per position where you’ve targeted; you have to have three or four because you’re not going to get every one that you go for.
“There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes, a lot of due diligence on the players attitude as well, which I think is important – speaking and meeting a lot of people that you want and that is a team together in place for next year which is going to have a right good go.”
