Manager took time out to speak to the Club.
Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov has spoken to www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk ahead of what could potentially be a busy summer of transfer activity for the Scot.
Following relegation in the final seconds of last seasons Sky Bet Championship campaign; the effervescent Dickov has insisted that the Club is a hive of activity underneath the surface. “It’s busy,” he said.
“I know a lot of people will be looking and seeing that it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot going on but behind the scenes there’s a lot of phone calls and a lot of meetings.
“Pre-season is all about sorting out the games we’ve got and I’m looking forward to getting the players back in and getting to work.
Dickov, who is entering his second year of his tenure at the Keepmoat Stadium, says there are plenty of names on his wish list, but wouldn’t disclose his targets out of respect.
“We’ve got a lot (of irons in the fire). My staff and I like to keep things under the radar and keep things quiet.
“I’m not one for announcing names or positions or clubs because I think it can come back and bit you on the bum a little bit. What we are doing is working ever so hard, hopefully before we start back on 30th June, we’ll have a few players in place by then.”
Dickov’s positivity was reminiscent of that highlighted by star striker Chris Brown, who’s said lately that he was ready to go again. The big forward is one of thirteen players under contract at the Club for next season’s League 1 campaign but the manager is playing a waiting game with some of the players in his sights.
“When you’re talking to agents and players, it’s never completely in your control until they’ve signed, but what we are doing is identifying targets, as we had done all throughout last season and sitting down and talking to them. A lot of players are on holiday so we’ll have to wait for some answers,” he concluded.
