Doncaster Rovers Foundation Education Officer Joe Burton has joined the Prostate Cancer UK peloton this morning as he heads from London to Amsterdam on a gruelling 150 mile cycle that will take around 24 hours.

Joined by names from the footballing world such as Luther Blissett, Perry Groves, Micky Adams, Alan Lee, Steve Vickers plus representatives from more than 50 British football clubs, the group will aim to raise £150,000 for the charity.

The ride begun in the early hours of this morning from Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium in the East End and will finish in the Dutch City tomorrow.

One in eight men will be affected by prostate cancer and there are 250,000 men living with the disease in the UK, and Joe said: “I’m delighted to lead the Rovers in this exciting adventure and at the same time raise money and awareness for an amazing cause.

“I am calling on all Rovers supporters to help support the footballing family and donate HERE or text to donate by sending JOEB66£3 to 70070.”
