Rovers new co chairman states his intention to continue ‘family excellence’ at the football club.Family orientated, global superstar Louis Tomlinson has expressed his desire in encouraging youngsters and families to attend the Keepmoat Stadium to support their local club.
“I want to be involved with things as much as I can.
“One aspect I would like to look into is the Youth side of the club. Doncaster is a very family orientated club and I hope to carry this on.
“I want people to recognise that Doncaster is a great football club, and this starts with the young supporters who come to the games with their mums or dads.
“It would be great to see more kids at the games with their families enjoying a day out at the football. It’s what it’s all about.”
Tomlinson has been a Doncaster Rovers fan since he was a boy; “I want children in Doncaster to grow up being Rovers supporters like I was,” he said.
Doncaster Rovers were awarded ‘The Football League Family Excellence Award’ for the 2013/14 season, the seventh year in a row.
Created in 2007, the Award recognises the outstanding experience provided by clubs for young fans and families as part of a scheme that won the Gold Award at the European Professional Football Leagues’ Best Practice Awards, earlier this season.
Doncaster Rovers are one of only seven clubs to have won this award for the seventh year running.
Perfect for families and young children on a matchday, the DCLT Family Area at Keepmoat Stadium boasts a variety of activities including; table tennis, snooker, table football, air hockey, face painting and a visit from everyone’s favourite mascot- Donny Dog!
The new owners have launched a crowdfunding campaign with Crowdfunder to support Doncaster Rovers Football Club and aim to raise £2M for the club to support their ambitions for Doncaster Rovers.
