Sky Bet have gone industry top price for Doncaster Rovers to bounce straight back into the Championship.
By Sky Bet’s Josh BradleyLouis Tomlinson and John Ryan have completed their takeover of Doncaster Rovers, and Sky Bet have gone industry top price for Rovers to bounce straight back into the Championship, with Paul Dickov’s men a stand-out 9/2 for promotion with the sponsors of the football league.
Doncaster were relegated on the last day of a dramatic Sky Bet Championship season, and will be hoping for a change in fortunes following the return to the club of former chairman Ryan, alongside one-fifth of One Direction.
Tomlinson, who lined up for Rovers’ reserve side against Scunthorpe last year, has always expressed interest in taking over his boyhood club., which should now free up Paul Dickov to acquire members of the wish-list he has already drawn up.
It will be an emotional return for Ryan, who had left Donny in November last year, following 15 years involved with the club. He and Tomlinson will become co-chairmen and they have already given their backing to Dickov, whose aim is to immediately piece together a side that can push for a return to the Sky Bet Championship.
They have been waiting for the go-ahead before finalising transfer targets, but now everything has been agreed, the manager will be hoping to bring in some new faces to help the side with their challenges this season.
It is an exciting time for all involved at Donny, and they have been installed at 12/1 fourth-favourites to win Sky Bet League One next season.
And for a limited time, Sky Bet will be pushing out the promotion price of Rovers, from 7/2 out to 9/2, while they’re 13/8 to open up the campaign with a win at Yeovil.
Odds are subject to change.
