Dickov: It hurt

6 March 2014

Doncaster manager Paul Dickov spoke to Rovers Player ahead of his sides Sky Bet Championship, Yorkshire derby at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday.

Rovers take on Huddersfield Town, with whom they drew with 0-0 at the Galpharm Stadium, in their last match back in September.

The hot topic was last weeks heavy defeat at Bournemouth and Dickov said: “It hurt badly to get beat in the manner that we did.

“What we did do is get it out of the way early doors in the week, the boys were in on Sunday and we analysed it in the early part of the week because I didn’t want it to fester within the club.

“That’s not getting away from the fact it wasn’t good enough.”

The Rovers boss also insisted he expects a much better performance this weekend: “I have had a fantastic response from the players, however there is no use responding from Sunday to Friday, we need to see a response on Saturday.

“The players and the team know they owe the fans, particularly the ones who travelled down to Bournemouth.”

“We will be going out to keep up our good home form, which it has been recently.

“We are unbeaten at the Keepmoat Stadium since Boxing day and we need that to continue, but we do need a reaction this week.
