Rovers fan signs for the club!

3 March 2014

Doncaster Rovers fan Daryl Henderson will sign for the club on a day-long contract!

Daryl, 30, from Parkway in Doncaster, secured the 24-hour deal with his beloved Rovers after winning the club’s season ticket competition.

He was entered into the draw to win the unique prize after being among the first 500 supporters to buy a season ticket for the 2014/15 campaign.

While no wages will be paid to Daryl, he will visit the club training ground and meet with players and manager Paul Dickov.

Daryl will also receive a new home shirt with his name and number on the back, take part in a press conference with the Rovers media team and be involved in a new signing photo-shoot – just like any new addition to the Rovers squad.

Daryl is a current season ticket holder in the West Stand and has been following Rovers for more than 20 years. He said: “I know it’s a cliché but this is a dream come true! My son will be delighted too. My first game was around 1993/94 at home to Walsall and I’ve supported the club ever since.

“It will be a great experience to see how things are done behind the scenes. I’m really excited about it. My son is obsessed about Rob Jones, so it would be great to meet him.

“From what I’ve seen this season, I’m confident we have enough quality to stay in the Championship. You always need a bit of luck and with Billy Sharp coming back into the team I think we can kick-on from here.

“It’s not going to be easy, but the team have shown with the results we’ve had already that we are good enough to be in this league. You have to be positive about it.”

Life-long Rovers fan Liam McHugh (pictured above) won the prize last summer and met with the manager and players and had a tour of the Keepmoat Stadium
