Brown Takes Multiple Awards

20 May 2014

Star number 9 takes yet more annual gongs.

Doncaster Rovers are delighted to announce that Chris Brown has won the Supporters Club Player of the Year and the Viking Supporters Co-operative Player of the Year.

Striker Brown, who had one of his best ever seasons in a Rovers shirt and scored 9 goals in all competitions last term, said: “It’s brilliant; it’s always a great honour to pick awards up like that and great to meet the fans from the forums etc. because they’re the ones who pay the money to come down and its nice for them to appreciate your efforts during the season and all the lads have worked as hard as they possibly can.

“They were brilliant with us the first time I was here and especially this season just gone, they’ve always been behind me and all the players.”

Brown couldn’t quite help keep Rovers in the Championship as they lost their second tier status in the 93rd minute of the last game of the season and he admitted there is room for improvement in his game: “For me, the season could have actually gone a little bit better, I was getting a lot more consistency. Obviously I’d like a few more goals but it’s one of those things. We’ve got relegated, but on a personal level, I was happy to stay fit for as long as I did.”

Brown now has 33 goals during two spells at the club and said he is looking forward to resting before hitting the ground running in pre-season, “I’m enjoying the summer so far and thinking about last season and where we can put it right.”

Rovers will face local rivals Sheffield United next term in League 1 and it is a fixture the big front man said he was relishing - guarantee your seat for this game and the 22 other League 1 home fixtures NOW by buying your 2014/15 season ticket.
