McCullough Called

20 May 2014

International recognition for Rovers young defender.

Doncaster Rovers wish to congratulate defender Luke McCullough on his full international call up.

The Northern Irish defender, who signed for Rovers from Manchester United a year ago, has made the transition from the under-21s to Michael O’Neill’s senior 22 man squad.

McCullough featured fifteen times in all competitions last season for Paul Dickov’s side and will now face an altogether new challenge when he represents his country in World Cup warm-up friendlies against Uruguay and Chile.

The 20 year old follows former Rovers midfielders Sammy Clingan and Dean Shiels in to the full set up against the South American sides.

Uruguay, who face England, Costa Rica and Italy in the World Cup group D, are first up for O’Neill’s men in Montevideo on Friday 30th May.

The travelling party then move to Valparaiso on Chile’s coast on 4th June to take on the Chileans ahead of their Group B fixtures against Spain, Netherlands and Australia.
