Rovers Go Wild – Project Philippines Day 3

11 May 2014

Day 3 of the project saw the ‘Rovers Go Wild’ team visit Kalauman Development Centre’s summer camp for the very last time.

It was also the final day of the weekend long residential for the children.

To celebrate the end of what has been a fantastic extended weekend, the team planned a DRFC Sports Day – the penultimate of many team tasks throughout the last few days. With 8 different activity stations including football, a water balloon relay race, and more commonly participated sports such as basketball and badminton, the teams competed throughout the morning before crowning the overall winner as ‘Team Texas’. The winning team receiving prizes and gifts from the DRFC team and Kalauman staff members to take home and share with their siblings.

The children had spent days weaving their very own floor mats from recycled drinking straws, and so the afternoon concluded with the team judging the mats in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. This was followed by us helping the children pack away their belongings and tents before waving goodbye to the Kalauman Summer Camp of 2014.

The team will now move on to work with another charity, Little Children of the Philippines. For further updates follow the Foundation on Twitter @drfc_foundation.
