Sunday May 18th will see the 2nd instalment of the Charity Legends Football match at the Keepmoat Stadium in aid of The Eve Merton Dreams Trust, a Doncaster Cancer Charity. This year promises to be even bigger and better and gives us the chance to welcome back a real Rovers legend who also went on to grace the Premiership.

Rufus Brevett is coming home to where it all began, to play at the Keepmoat for the first time. He’ll be joined by other Rovers Legends as well as some fantastic ex-Premiership superstars.

Rufus was gracious enough to answer a few questions about his time at Rovers and the rest of his career.

Q. Who was the best manager/ coach you played under? At Doncaster and at all the clubs you played for.
A. I Played under 3 great managers at Donny, Dave Cusack gave me my debut and Dave Mackay and Billy Bremner were brilliant for me. Kevin Keegan and Jean Tigana were my other favourites

Q. What is your favourite memory from your time at DRFC?
A. My debut and getting to the FA youth cup final.

Q. Do you ever get the chance to see Rovers now? Have you been to the Keepmoat before?

Q. Who was your idol as a young footballer?
A. Kenny Sansom

Q. Where was your favourite ground to play and why?
A. St James’ Park, Newcastle, because of the atmosphere

Q. You scored a beauty in a 4-0 home win against Carlisle, was that your best career goal?
A. I enjoyed that one but the one I scored for West Ham against Crewe was my probably my best.

Q. Who was your best mate at DRFC and who did you room with on away games?
A. Max Nicolson and Kev Noteman were my roommates

Q. Who was the joker in the team when you played at Belle Vue?
A. Colin Douglas

Q. Do you still keep in touch with any of the lads from you’re playing days at Donny? Such as Kev Noteman, John Muir, Les Robinson etc?
A. Only Max

Q. What's your best starting XI you have played with over your career?
A. 1 Edwin Van Der Sar, 2 Steve Finnan, 3 Rufus Brevett, 4 Alan McDonald, 5 Chris Coleman, 6 Michael Carrick, 7 Trevor Sinclair, 8 John Collins, 9 Louis Saha, 10 Les Ferdinand, 11 Louis Boa Morte, Subs Di Canio, Collymore,  Beardsley, Maik Taylor, Barry Hayles
