Rovers to take on Owls in pre-season

16 May 2014

Wednesday one of three friendly games lined up.

Rovers can confirm that they will play South Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday in a pre-season friendly at the Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday 27th July 2014.

Paul Dickov’s men will face South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley, Sheffield United and, potentially Rotherham United in next season’s League 1 and a game against the Owls – whom Rovers did the double over last term – is ideal preparation.

Dickov’s side will also warm up for the new season with fixtures against non-league opposition in the shape of Lincoln City at Sincil Bank and Bradford Park Avenue at the Horsfall Stadium.

Doncaster have only played the Imps in cup competitions since the clubs were last together in Division 3 during the 2003/04 season when Rovers went on to win the league and City made the play-offs.

Since then meetings with Lincoln have been restricted to the LDV Vans trophy (2004) and Carling Cup (2007), where Rovers ran out winners in both games.

As for the game against Bradford PA, this will be the third time that the sides have faced each other in recent years following another pre-season friendly and an FA Cup first round tie in 2012.

Confirmed pre-season fixtures, to date:
09/07/14 - Bradford Park Avenue v ROVERS (7.45pm)
12/07/14 - Lincoln City v ROVERS (3pm)
27/07/14 - ROVERS v Sheffield Wednesday (2pm)

Ticket details for these fixtures will be announced in due course.

Rovers season tickets for next season are available NOW from £399 for adults and £30 for juniors to guarantee your seat at the Keepmoat Stadium to see Paul Dickov’s side take on Yorkshire sides Sheffield United, Barnsley, Bradford and potentially Rotherham United and York City in next years ‘White Rose’ League 1.
