Youth team strike force earn pro contracts.

Liam Mandeville (above centre) and Jack McKay (above right) have penned professional contracts, the club can reveal.

The pair (joined by Paul McKay – above left) have been in red hot form for Paul Stancliffe’s under 18’s side and have duly been rewarded for their efforts with their first senior deals.

A lot of speculation has surrounded the strikers who have formed a formidable partnership in the youth ranks that has blossomed this term and seen the side reach the third round of the FA Youth Cup.

For McKay, who turned 18 years old on Wednesday, it signals the end of a fantastic week, after making his first team debut against Sheffield United and scoring in Wednesday’s 4-2 cup win over Peterborough United.

Mandeville also hit a brace in the game and both players have secured two year deals.

Rovers have now signed 17 players from the youth system in the last three years.

The move highlights a positive week for the Doncaster Rovers Academy which boasted it’s recent EPPP audit results.
