Study with Club Doncaster Foundation

21 November 2014

Now is your chance to apply to study with Club Doncaster for the 2015/16 academic year!

The Doncaster Rovers Education Foundation offer full time courses at BTEC Levels 2 and 3 where students obtain valuable skills for gaining employment and a pathway to university.  These courses run alongside our new traineeship programme where learners can gain work experience within seven areas of the club including; the ticket office, ground staff, media team and the Foundation coaching team.

The courses for young people aged 16-18 are based right here at the Keepmoat Stadium.  Students will study in the Foundation’s state of the art classrooms and on the Soccer Centre’s 3G AstroTurf pitches.

BTEC Sport Level 3 student Brad McFadden said: "Doncaster Rovers Education Foundation have a great set of staff who are always helpful and supportive with the course.  It's amazing working with coaches and waking up and putting the Doncaster Rovers badge on. The course has been a life changing experience for me and I really believe that I can now progress my career because of the great opportunities that studying here has given me."

The Level 3 programme gives students the opportunity to gain up to 420 UCAS points and many graduates have gone on to gain employment in a wide range of jobs within the sports and leisure industry whilst other participants are now studying at universities throughout the UK and even in the USA.

The Education Foundation oversaw 170 learners through a range of nationally recognised qualifications in 2013 alone, and has picked up prestigious awards for excellence in education.

Course Leader Adrian Turnpenny added: "For anyone interested in studying sports courses there is no better place to do so than at a professional sports club. Here at Doncaster Rovers we have superb facilities for both academic and practical sessions.  We have enjoyed great success in our five year existence and the results obtained by students speak for themselves."

Throughout the duration of the programme, students will get free Club Doncaster Foundation hooded jumper, free selected match day tickets, experience coaching from professionals, plus many more benefits.

Also introduced for 2015 is the brand new Club Doncaster Foundation rugby academy, which sits alongside our current dance and football academies.  The academy has been developed to run alongside students’ main academic subjects enabling those with a passion for football, dance and rugby to develop their skills and represent Doncaster Rovers and the Dons.

There are no course fees for any of our programmes, however there are entry requirements for some courses.  Places are limited and people interested in applying must do so by applying online.
