DICKOV ON…

3 October 2014

Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov covers certain footballing aspects.

Training…“Anybody who was there on Saturday will realise that we’ve got a lot to work on defensive and offensive aspects, team shape and individual positions and we’ve made sure its been tailored to the players who’ve been really receptive, the response has been great, but its all about putting it in to practice on a Saturday.”

Rob Jones...“It could be up to four weeks before Rob comes back from injury. He’s got a cist on his knee and it swells up after running. He’s going to see the surgeon sooner rather than later to have exploratory surgery and we’ll go from there.”

Curtis Main…“He’s been training with the fitness coach recently and has a little stiffness due to the workload but we’ll see about him prior to the weekend and whether we can get him involved.”
Mixing it up…“I’m not afraid to rotate my players and I think I’ve proved that. Whether you’re Richie Wellens, Harry Forrester or Marc De Val – who’s been unlucky to be fair.”

Hangover from relegation…“It’s possible that the three of us (Doncaster, Yeovil and Barnsley) could be experiencing a hangover. There’s a lot of big clubs with big resources in this league and from the outside looking in, it looks as though we should be competing at the right end.”

His philosophy…“I try to be truthful when I say it’s been a difficult start and that’s not excuses, its fact. You’ve got to believe in what you’re doing and that that’s right.”

The weekend game against Scunthorpe…“The players know that it’s a big one for the fans and they’re more than aware of that fact.”
