A new academic year is underway at Club Doncaster Foundation is delighted to have welcomed onboard a record number of first year students for 2014/15.
Studying right here at the Keepmoat Stadium in the Rovers Education Centre, the Foundation boasts state of the art classrooms and 3G astro-turf pitches, giving the new recruits access to some of the best facilities in the country.
In total there are 84 new students undertaking the BTEC Sport Level 3 Diploma and Level 2 Diploma in Active Leisure with the Education Foundation, including 23 returning second years.
Since being set up in 2008, there has been continued growth and success for the Education Foundation, overseeing 160 learners through a range of nationally recognised courses in 2013 alone, whilst picking up numerous prestigious awards.
This year has also seen 46 players join our Club Doncaster Foundation Football Academy, running alongside the student's academic timetable. Training twice a week, the academy competes in the Association of College’s League along with the National Football Cup where learners are invited to represent Doncaster Rovers FC at football.
Head of Education, Jenna Scully commented: "We are delighted at the intake for this academic year. We have had a great calibre of young people through the doors and we are excited they have chosen to study sport with Club Doncaster. The football academy has been hugely popular this season and we are grateful to have been able to offer them the chance to represent the club in the college league. Here's to a great season, on and off the field.”
Everybody at Doncaster Rovers Football Club would like to wish all of the Foundation's students the best of luck with their studies for the academic year and the new football academy a successful season on the pitch.
