McCullough Ready for Derby Battle

1 October 2014

Young defender says that confidence is high ahead of Iron clash.

Rovers defender Luke McCullough has said that there is no better environment for Rovers to arrest their recent run of poor form, than in a local derby.

The Northern Ireland international and his teammates face Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park on Saturday.

“We've had a couple of bad results in the last few weeks and we've been working hard in training this week to try and get the result we want at the weekend as there's no better game to do it in,” he said.

“We're looking forward to it, there should be a good atmosphere and they’re the games you want to play in it because they mean the most to the fans.”

McCullough has been an ever present at the heart of the Rovers defence this term and the 20 year old former Manchester United trainee is maturing rapidly.

“We put pressure on ourselves and set standards because we're under pressure to win three points and we go out to win three points every week,” he said.

“We're never going to lose confidence no matter what the last result says because we've got the ability and talent in our side. We maintain the confidence that we're a match for anyone in the division and Scunthorpe will be no different.”
