Rovers Bag Butler

23 October 2014

Paul Dickov boosts his back line with the arrival of Doncaster-born Andy Butler.

Andy Butler has today signed a loan deal* with Doncaster Rovers, the club can confirm.

Thirty year old Butler was born in Doncaster and joins from South Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield United.

The defender is available for FA Cup fixtures unless Rovers draw the Blades.

Butler, who joined United in the summer on a free transfer from Walsall, has been back on loan at the Bescot Stadium already this season and was part of the team that defeated Rovers 3-0 back in September.

Manager Paul Dickov has spoken to the press in recent weeks about tightening up the defence and bringing in a leader to the team and Butler’s wealth of experience in the division with Huddersfield Town and Scunthorpe United will be an added boost to the Rovers side.

Butler will go straight into the Doncaster squad for this weekend’s clash with MK Dons, as Paul Dickov’s side look to record a first win in three matches.
