Birds of Prey descend upon Chesterfield

18 September 2014

Doncaster Samaritans display ‘wings’ its way into Keepmoat Stadium.

Saturday’s match at Keepmoat Stadium is dedicated to supporting the club’s official charity partner, The Doncaster Samaritans.

This charitable organisation, providing valuable support to individuals in time of need, has been in partnership with the football club during the year 2014. During this time the club has provided Keepmoat Stadium as a platform for The Doncaster Samaritans to raise awareness amongst our fans of the tremendous work which they do.

At Saturday’s match against Chesterfield there will be an opportunity for our fans to show their support for the work of the Samaritans by contributing to a fundraising day on behalf of the charity.

Volunteers from the organisation will be in attendance outside and inside Keepmoat Stadium throughout the day inviting Rovers supporters to donate towards the running costs of this valuable service within our local community. Just £1 enables the specially-trained volunteers to handle a phone call from someone in despair; it costs £60 to recruit and train a new volunteer to be able to ‘man the telephone’ during one of the 780 shifts operated from Doncaster Samaritans base in Doncaster.

As part of their activity on the day, trained handlers from the Samaritans volunteers will be exhibiting a display of Birds of Prey on the grass area outside the East Stand, nearby to the family enclosure. Young and old alike will have an opportunity of coming into close contact with such birds as a Kestrel, a Buzzard, an Eagle Owl, a Harris Hawk and more. The display will be active from 1.00pm until kick-off, and everyone is welcome to come and observe.

Please support Doncaster Samaritans as one of Doncaster Rovers’ Official Charity Partners.
