Dickov: Post-Crawley

17 September 2014

Match reaction from the Doncaster Rovers manager following a goalless draw.

Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov cut a frustrated figure in light of a 0-0 draw against a stubborn Crawley Town outfit.

Rovers were unable to break the deadlock and the stalemate leaves Dickov and his men without a home win this season.

“We’re disappointed not to win the game,” he said.

“I thought we were a lot better than what we’ve been recently.  In my opinion only one team wanted to really win the game.”

“But for some fantastic goalkeeping we would have picked up three points, Jamie Ashdown has made three great saves at the end, the first from the header from Theo Robinson and then the double save from James Coppinger and Theo’s rebound.”

Following two defeats away at Bristol City and at home to Oldham Athletic, the Rovers manager was pleased to keep the clean sheet – despite the absence of centre back and captain, Rob Jones.

“Prior to tonight we’d conceded five goals in two games, so the clean sheet is a good base to build on.

“The team have to believe they’re a good team, ok we’ve gone two games without a win but this is the same side that had the fantastic performance and result against Watford two weeks ago.

“We have to be brave, and if things aren’t going our way stand up and be counted and work as hard as you can.”

Rovers entertain Chesterfield in the first local derby of the season on Saturday 20th September, for tickets call 01302 762576.
