Doncaster Rovers Celebrate Non League Day

5 September 2014

With this Saturday being Non League Day, Doncaster Rovers season ticket holders can gain access to Frickley Athletic v Skelmersdale United for just £1 and show their support for grass roots football.

In what promises to be a mouth-watering game, the Blues face high-flying Skelmersdale United in an Evo-Stik Premier League game at Westfield Lane (k.o. 3pm) so fans of any Football League or Premier league club only need to show their season ticket at the turnstile on entry to gain admission for £1.

Last season the two sides played out two enthralling games with the Blues leading 2-0 at Skelmersdale only to lose 3-2 but exacted their revenge in the return meeting winning 4-3 at Westfield Lane.

Non-League Day was set up by James Doe in 2010 as a social media experiment and has now grown to become an annual part of the football calendar, backed by Premier League and Football League clubs, MPs, celebrities, media organisations, charities and most importantly the non-league clubs themselves and the fans who turn up on the day.

Always scheduled to coincide with an international break, Non-League Day provides a platform for clubs to promote the importance of affordable volunteer led community football while giving fans across the country the chance to show support for their local non-league side.
