What the Papers Say (22nd Sept)

22 September 2014

A variety of different angles focussed on Saturday's 3-2 win over Chesterfield.

Sheffield Star:
"James Coppinger (Doncaster Rovers) - Another impressive performance from a player whose consistency is in stark contrast to that of his team as a whole who are quite the opposite.
Nathan Tyson (Doncaster Rovers) - Worked tirelessly for the team and marked a fully committed display with his third goal of the season."

Yorkshire Post:
"Doncaster Rovers celebrated ending their six-month wait for a home victory with a storming victory over high-flying Chesterfield. Paul Dickov’s side have not won in the league at the Keepmoat Stadium since March but their long-suffering fans were rewarded with a five-goal thriller."

Derbyshire Times
"Purely on this evidence, Doncaster Rovers and Chesterfield should not have too much to worry about in League One this season. The near neighbours served up a footballing feast at the Keepmoat Stadium; a frenetic, free-flowing encounter that had pulses racing. This was no typical third tier encounter."

Aston Villa FC -
"JED STEER played 90 minutes as Doncaster ended their six-month wait for a home win with a thrilling triumph over Chesterfield in League One. DANIEL JOHNSON also played 90 minutes - but for The Spireites.
Nathan Tyson headed home a Reece Wabara cross before Kyle Bennett lashed in off the crossbar to double Rovers' lead. Sam Clucas pulled one back for the visitors as he pounced on a rebound, only for Jamie McCombe to score in similar fashion and restore the two-goal cushion soon after. Eoin Doyle set up a nervy finish with a tap in but Doncaster held on. The win moved Paul Dickov's side up to 15th in the table, while Chesterfield slipped to fifth."
