Backroom Star Up For Award

16 April 2015

Club's 'unsung hero' nominated for FL national award.

Loyal member of staff Tracy Kennedy has been shortlisted for a prestigious gong at the Football League’s end of season awards due to be held on Sunday 19th April.

Tracy, who has been with the club for over a decade, works for the club behind the scenes at Cantley Park and was nominated as the Club’s ‘unsung hero’.

Standing on the cusp of collecting a national accolade, a stunned Tracy said: “It was a complete shock. Mary [Club Secretary] came to me and wanted to take my photograph which confused me a bit, and then she said it was for an award and I burst in to tears, as silly as it sounds.

“I just go about my daily business and do what we have to do to get the kit out. We wash the kit, print the names and numbers, pack it up and make sure it’s ready for taking to the ground.

“I’ve been here nearly ten years and after working as an assistant, I took it over myself under Dean Saunders and I’ve done it ever since. I have a couple of part time helpers who help in an afternoon and I love it, I do it for the lads.

“We have a great rapport and if they ever want something, they come looking for me and asking “Where’s this? Where’s that? Where’s Tracy?” – because I’ve been here that long, I usually know the answer!”

Doncaster Rovers would like to congratulate Tracy for her efforts in being nominated and shortlisted for the award and wish her every success on the evening.
