Butler Up For Bradford Battle

2 April 2015

Doncaster defender says he's focussing on Rovers first and foremost.

Andy Butler has said that Doncaster Rovers must focus on themselves only if they are to challenge for a League One play off spot.

Butler, who admitted to having a look at other team’s results, will be fully aware of how most teams have done as Rovers v Bradford is the only late fixture on Friday (7:45).

“I like to look at results to see how they’ve got on. It’s about what we do though on a matchday and if we win, and then no one else can affect what we do,” he said.

“It could help us [knowing other team’s results] but we have to concentrate on us. It won’t affect us mentally because we’ve got a game plan in our mind to stick to and that’s to beat Bradford City.

“It’s all up to play for with only a few games to go but we’re up for it. I don’t think it’s ever been as close as this season from 5th to 15th and so it’s up to us to take advantage of other teams slipping up against each other.”

The physical centre back openly admitted that he is expecting a battle against the Bantams who “play to their strengths well.”

“It was tough at their place – where we sneaked it 2-1 – and we’re hoping for the same but we’re ready for the battle,” he said.

“They’ve done well and had a cup run so they know how to play in a cup final environment but it may have caught up with them now.

“Cup games add to their fixture list and it could have sapped their energy. We think we can out battle them both physically and mentally.”
