Development skipper ready to stand up and be counted in run in.

Doncaster Rovers Development captain Harry Middleton spoke to doncasterroversfc.co.uk in the aftermath of a 1-0 win over Burton Albion at Cantley Park this afternoon.

Middleton has been in impressive form for the side and hopes to stake a claim for some more first team opportunities before the season is over.

“I’m pleased with how the season has gone; I think it’s gone well. When you look back to our first game of the season to where we are now it’s been a massive improvement and the whole team has come together,” the nineteen year old said of Rob Jones’ side.

“It’s been a good season for us.

“There are only positives that can come from playing under Rob (Jones). He handles himself well, he’s been in the game a long time and he’s someone we can all look up to. Anything he says to me I take on board, I have a lot of respect for him.”

Middleton has been in good goalscoring form for the development squad, but couldn’t find the target during the win over the Brewers – not that it will affect him.

“I didn’t manage to get on the score sheet today with the missed penalty but I’ve scored a few goals this season and it’s a great feeling, especially playing in midfield,” he said.

“Personally, I feel I’ve had a good season and it’s great to have been captain as well. With two games left we can really show people what we’re capable of.”
