Day one of the newly formed Club Doncaster Camp has seen over 40 children inspired to take part in football over the school Easter holidays. The camp in partnership with Rossington Main Football Club is targeted at their junior section and the local community.
Carl Stokes of Rossington Main stated: “As a club we are delighted to host Club Doncaster. The kids are really enjoying the sessions and hopefully we will see them using what they have learnt when they come to play for us in games."
Managing the camp on behalf of Club Doncaster foundation Tom Butterworth commented: "It has been great to see so many kids from the local area turn up this morning. All the kids are showing their love for football and their desire to improve on skills! By targeting areas for the camps it has meant that more people than ever have been able to get involved in football!"
We interviewed Ben Liversidge - 8 years old who plays for Rossington Main - for his opinion on the camp so far:
Are you happy that club Doncaster are coaching football where you live?
"I am happy that Club Doncaster have come to Rossington because sometimes I can't get all over Doncaster to different sessions. Also it means that lots of my friends can come from where I live."
What have you enjoyed most about the camp so far?
"I have enjoyed taking part in the skills sessions. Most of all I enjoyed the shooting game because I got to score goals!"
Does coming to the camp make you want to play more football?
"Yes it does! I want to be a professional footballer when I'm older, so playing more football means I get to improve my skills, also the coaches get to see what I can do!"
The second camp over Easter starts on Tuesday next week running until Wednesday 9am till 3pm and cost just £25 for the 2 days.
