Pressure on them - Jones

21 April 2015

Rovers defender issues message to embrace the occasion.

Rob Jones says that Doncaster Rovers will be issuing no favours to the teams who have something left to play for in League 1 this season.

Rovers travel to promotion chasing MK Dons this evening and could influence the movers and shakers at the top of the division, before heading to relegation threatened Notts County on Saturday.

“We need to look after ourselves, we owe no one any favours so we need to look to get something out of the game tonight,” Jones warned.

“With just three games to go we will try and get as many points from those games as we can.”

The giant centre back has returned from serious injury to feature in Doncaster’s last two outings – in which they’ve kept successive clean sheets – and got on the scoresheet in the process.

“MK Dons have had a great season this year and there’s no surprise that they are where they are,” the 35 year old continued.

“They’ve scored nine goals in two games so it will be a tough test but we go there looking for a result.

“As I said, we want to finish the season as strongly as possible and our away form has been really good so hopefully we can go there, put our foot forward and take the game to them.

“It’s a lovely venue to play at on a big pitch. It’s an occasion we go and embrace.

“All the pressure is on them, the little pressure that’s on us is what we put on ourselves. We go there, we enjoy it, we embrace it and we see where we are at the end of the game but we’re going there to win.”
