PREVIEW: County v ROVERS

24 April 2015

Saturday 25th April 2015 (3pm), Meadow Lane, Sky Bet League One.

Rovers travel to Meadow Lane for their final away game of the season faced with the possibility of relegating beleaguered Notts County.

The Magpies will be all but consigned to relegation back to the fourth tier for the first time in five years if they lose and Crewe win.

The South Yorkshire side find themselves in a similar role to the one in which they were cast going in to the final away game of the 11/12 season at Coventry City when the Sky Blues were relegated in front of their own fans.

It’s quite an about turn for County who were battling for a play off place earlier on in the season under Shaun Derry and Greg Abbott. That managerial duo has since made way for Dutch coach Ricardo Moniz.

Moniz is still looking for his first win at County and the omens don’t look favourable with Meadow Lane a happy hunting ground for Rovers who’ve won 9 of 21 meetings there!

The latest of which was during the 2012/13 season when second half goals from Paul Keegan and Chris Brown saw off the hosts.

The sides have met already this season and, after a 1-0 win for County in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, they played out a stalemate at the Keepmoat which will be best remembered for the peculiar sending off of loanee striker Kwame Thomas.

Thomas was issued a second yellow card for time wasting when being substituted late in the game.
