PREVIEW: ROVERS v Bantams

2 April 2015

Friday 3rd April (7:45pm), Keepmoat Stadium, Sky Bet League One.

Doncaster Rovers welcome Bradford City to Keepmoat Stadium on Friday night looking to make the Good Friday fixture a great one with three points.

Separated by just one point in the League One table, the Yorkshire pair will battle it out in their attempts to reach the much coveted sixth – and final play off – spot.

While the hosts have not had a game since March 21st and a 3-1 away win at Coventry City, the fixture will be the third in six days for the Bantams who took three points from home fixtures against Oldham Athletic (2-0) and Chesterfield (0-1).

Rovers have not hosted Bradford City in the league since the 2006/07 season at Belle Vue where the sides played out an enthralling 3-3 draw on a Tueday night at Belle Vue.

City took the lead inside 60 seconds with Dean Windass pouncing on a rebound and the larger than life frontman doubled the lead on 23 minutes. Sean O’Driscoll’s side fought their way back in to the contest through Paul Green’s strike on the stroke of half time.

Green restored parity minutes after half time and the turnaround was complete on 53 minutes when James Coppinger struck for 3-2.

There was to be a sting in the tail nonetheless as Rovers captain Graeme Lee was harshly dismissed late in the game – as he was adjudged to have brought down Windass as the last man – and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson curled home the resultant free kick in front of the Town End. 3-3 it ended.

City – who lost to Rovers 2-1 in November at Valley Parade thanks to goals from Reece Wabara and Curtis Main – have visited the Keepmoat before though, in the first round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Defending Champions Doncaster swept a below par Bantams outfit aside 5-1.
